What is an Ink Spot Test?

Ink Spot Test on Wood Bats

The ink dot test was introduced to show how straight the wood grain is on a Maple Bat. The Straighter the grain, the less likely to result in Breakage, creating a stronger Bat. We do ink test on ALL our bats, Youth to Adult. Major league Baseball implemented the Ink Test on all bats in 2009. Not only does it fall in line with regulation, but it also shows our players the quality of the wood we use.

Swearingen Bats does not apply an ink test to unpainted handles or Trophy bats endless requested otherwise.
